Executive Chef Thomas A. Hannum has been a member of the Hotel du Pont culinary team for thirty years. A graduate of the Culinary Institute of America, Hannum also trained at the prestigious Le Bec Fin restaurant in Philadelphia and the Die Ente Vom Lehel restaurant in the Hotel Nassauer Hof in Weisbaden, Germany. He was also the first chef to participate in the Hotel du Pont’s culinary exchange with the Imperial Hotel of Tokyo. In 2001, Chef Hannum was not only a guest chef at the prestigious James Beard House in New York City, but was also invited to prepare a three-course menu for the popular “Chef on a Shoestring” live segment of CBS’ “The Saturday Early Show.” Under the direction of Chef Hannum, the Green Room has received numerous awards including being highlighted for its Sunday Brunch Buffet on “Good Morning America” with Master Chef Julia Child. Chef Hannum serves on the Board of Directors of Meals on Wheels Delaware and is currently an Advisory Board Member of several local organizations including the Red Clay and Christina School districts’ Family and Consumer Sciences Programs, the Wilmington Job Corps Center Culinary Program and the Delaware Food Bank. He is also President of the ACF First State Chefs Association Board for which he was a previous recipient of Chef of the Year. Hannum was born and raised in Delaware and he and his wife Michelle reside in Wilmington.
